5th Grade Reading: 

This week the students will finish analyzing the two main characters based on an excerpt from the novel Old Yeller. The will have an writing assessment comparing the characters of the story using the graphic organizer completed in class. 

The students will once again receive new vocabulary and spelling words this week and will have a short assessment on Friday. This week our spelling words will focus on words spelled with the letter ou, aw, au, and ow. Our vocabulary skill will be antonyms.

5th Grade ELA:
The students will continue learning about nouns used as indirect objects and in direct address . There will be a quiz on Thursday, September 27th. Topics will include plural and possessive nouns, nouns used as subject complements, direct and indirect objects, and objects of a preposition. There will be a unit test on Nouns on Tuesday, October 2nd. 

5th Grade SS:
This week, the students will be working in groups to research the 5 themes of geography for a country of their choice located in the Western Hemisphere.   

Important Reminders: 
Picture Day is Monday, September 24th! Children should come to school in dress clothes or regular uniform. 

Please remember to hand in your child's permission slip and money for our field trip to The Liberty Science Museum! The cost of the trip is $40 which will cover our transportation and admission into the museum. Children should bring a bagged lunch and come dressed in their gym uniform.
