"My children come home happy and excited about learning every day. They love the arts and specials incorporated into the younger grades curriculum and the after school club options as well." - Amanda Palermo, Parent
Long Beach Catholic Regional School Kindergarten is a faith-centered program. Children have the opportunity to grow spiritually, socially, physically and intellectually. We recognize that each child develops differently, and is uniquely gifted by God. Using our catholic values as a guide, Long Beach Catholic Kindergarten ensures that your child is in a safe and nurturing environment. The Kindergarten program is a full day program that aligns with the New York State Next Generation standards.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS:
Our English Language Arts curriculum consists of a balanced literacy approach. Phonics is taught through the Fundations program. Fundations is used to help teach letter formation, phonological and phonemic awareness, sound mastery, vocabulary, irregular words, fluency, comprehension strategies and written composition. In addition to Fundations, students are introduced to a "close read", text based approach. Students have the opportunity to uncover layers of meaning that lead to deep comprehension of both fiction and nonfiction texts.
MATH:
Students are introduced to the "Into Math" curriculum. Into Math is aligned to the NYS Next Generation standards. Students learn how to represent numbers 0 to 20 with objects and written numerals, add and subtract within 10, use the count sequence to count to 100, and analyze and compare the 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional shapes.
SCIENCE AND SOCIAL STUDIES:
Students will cover a variety of topics in both science and social studies. Topics and objectives align with the NYS Next Generation standards. Students will use all of their senses and learn with a hands-on approach.
In addition to the core subjects, a weekly rotation introduces physical education, yoga, music, spanish, art and library. Religious participation begins with our All Saints Day Pageant.
