March 27, 2017

Dear Students and Parents,
Happy Monday!  I hope you had a great weekend! It was very nice meeting with all of you to discuss your child's progress in Kindergarten.  I am very proud of all their hard work!
**We are still in desperate need of supplies!**
Still needed for March:
-Gallon of water
-Baby Wipes
-DONATION OF COPY PAPER PLEASE!!!!
-Paper Towels
-Pencils (Ticonderoga please!)

The children have been doing wonderfully on their spelling tests. Please remember to study their sight words with them each night. Also, it is just as important for your child to be able to write their sight words as it is to read them! We will be starting to use sight words to compose sentences, so please practice putting these words together to help them read/write sentences.

Please remember to check our class web page for any news and updates about what is going on in our class!  Also be sure to check our school website and calendar for any important updates!

**REMIDERS**
-CHANGES IN TRANSPORTATION MUST BE IN WRITING!
-Please label your child's HEALTHY MORNING SNACK with the letter "M" on it.
- Remind your child about the importance of staying safe in our classroom.  This means we keep our hands on our own bodies, we sit criss-cross applesauce, hands in our laps, and we raise our hand to leave our seats.
- Remind them to ALWAYS ask for help.
-Please practice writing their name (first and last) with only the first letters being uppercase letters.
- When writing, please ONLY use pencil!  Unless the directions say to color, we ONLY write with pencil :)
**PRACTICE LETTER/SOUND RECOGNITION EVERY DAY!!**
-Remember to have fun while learning!

This week in K-2:

MATH-
We will continue with Chapter 10- 3 dimensional shapes.  We will be learning about spheres, cubes, cylinders, and cones.  We will learn what these shapes can do- slide, stack and roll.
Please, please, please continue to practice number recognition with numbers to 100.  They should also work on counting to 100 by 10's and 5's.  There are great songs on Youtube that can help make this easier for them! Remind your child, "When we write teen numbers, the 1 goes first!"
