Dear Students and Parents,

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a nice weekend!
This week we are kicking off "SPIRIT WEEK!"
Monday- School Spirit Day
Your child may come to school wearing their gym uniform or summer uniform!
Tuesday- May Crowning
Wednesday- FIELD DAY!
Children should wear their gym uniform!  Please be sure your child has on sun screen prior to coming to school!
Lunch should be in a DISPOSABLE, LABELED bag!  Nothing will come back to school with us!
Thursday- CRAZY SOCK DAY!
Your child will be listening to professionals who have a direct job in connection to our faith.
They may also wear a team jersey as an added bonus!
Kindergarten is also asked to bring in boxes of pasta for our outreach program!
It is finally beginning to feel like Spring! Your child still needs to come to school with some type of jacket!
Please do not forget to send in a water bottle with your child each day!

**REMINDER!-When doing HW with your child, I am asking that you please be aware your child is using the writing lines correctly. I have noticed a lot of uppercase letters (we only use lowercase unless it is the first word of a sentence or a name!), backwards letters, and incorrect lines being used. Letters DO NOT FLOAT! We have been focusing a lot on lowercase letters and it is extremely important that they are able to recognize them as well as write them. Please also make sure that your child is not writing their letters from the "grass line" UP.  We have learned that letters all FALL matter what line they start on!

**Some Information for You!**

-Please label your child's (1) HEALTHY MORNING SNACK with the letter "M" on it.
-Please refrain from sending your child to school with peanut butter as we have a few children with severe allergies.
- Remind your child about the importance of staying safe in our classroom.  This means we keep our hands on our own bodies, we sit criss-cross applesauce, hands in our laps, and we raise our hand to leave our seats.
- Remind them to ALWAYS ask for help.
-Please practice writing their name (first and last) with only the first letters being uppercase letters.
- When writing, please ONLY use pencil!  Unless the directions say to color, we ONLY write with pencil :)
-Remember to have fun while learning!

This week in K-2:

We will be reviewing for the remainder of the year as well as introduce a few concepts they will be learning in 1st grade.  Please do not stop practicing number recognition and addition and subtraction with your child.  Reversals are normal, but the more they practice writing the numbers, the better they will be! They should also know that when writing numbers, they all touch the sky and grass lines!  As this math may be new to some of you, as well as the terminology, please do not hesitate to contact me if you find yourself, or your child confused in any way! I am here to help all of you!

Stories of the Week: Spring Stories
Letter of the Week:
review (uppercase and lowercase)
Sight Words:  of, have
Poem of the Week: The Fuzzy Caterpillar
Phonics Skill: we will continue reviewing all the phonics concepts we have learned all year!
Writing: writing sentences
**It is very important that you continue to practice phonics at home as well.**

We will begin learning about ladybugs and butterflies!  We learn all about their life cycles as we watch them grow in our classroom! We will also be learning about Memorial Day!

We will be learning about Mary, the Mother of God for the month of May.

If you have any questions at any time, please do not hesitate to contact me!  E-mail is a great way to get in touch with me, but you can always call the main office and leave me a message.  I will get back to you as soon as I can!

Here's to a great year!
