June 12, 2017

Dear Students and Parents,
Happy Last Week of School!  I can't believe that while we were busy reading, writing, playing, sharing and creating.....Kindergarten happened! It has been an amazing year filled with milestones and memories that I will never forget.
I am truly blessed to have been able to teach such a wonderful group of children. I am also grateful to all of you, for being so dedicated this year.
We have been practicing very hard for our graduation and we cannot wait to dazzle you with our show!

Just a few reminders about Graduation Day:
-Your children should come to school dressed "up"
-They should arrive to school at regular time. No backpacks necessary!
-The show begins at 9:30 am in the gym.  When facing the stage, our class will be on the LEFT!
-The show lasts approx. 1 hour.  After the ceremony, the children will be directed to the back of the gym where they will give back their cap and gown and given a special tote bag.  Inside the bag will be their diploma, report card, a book they have made, their summer packet, and some other information for you.
-The children will be going home with you after the show as this is their last day of school!
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me!

Please remember to check our class web page for any news and updates about what is going on in our class!  Also be sure to check our school website and calendar for any important updates!

**REMIDERS**
-CHANGES IN TRANSPORTATION MUST BE IN WRITING!
-Please label your child's HEALTHY MORNING SNACK with the letter "M" on it.
- Remind your child about the importance of staying safe in our classroom.  This means we keep our hands on our own bodies, we sit criss-cross applesauce, hands in our laps, and we raise our hand to leave our seats.
- Remind them to ALWAYS ask for help.
-Please practice writing their name (first and last) with only the first letters being uppercase letters.
- When writing, please ONLY use pencil!  Unless the directions say to color, we ONLY write with pencil :)
**PRACTICE LETTER/SOUND RECOGNITION EVERY DAY!!**
-Remember to have fun while learning!

This week in K-2:

MATH-
We will be reviewing all concepts learned this year as well as introducing some new concepts they will see in 1st grade.
Please, please, please continue to practice number recognition with numbers to 100.  Addition and subtraction skills to 10 should also be reviewed at home.  Making flash cards helps them a lot! They should also work on counting to 100 by 10's and 5's.  There are great songs on YouTube that can help make this easier for them! Remind your child, "When we write teen numbers, the 1 goes first!"
