Here are the ELA review sheets for the finals:

ELA/Literature

Final Exam Review Sheet 8th grade

          The final exam will include grammar (the parts of speech), usage & mechanics, and reading comprehension.

Grammar:

  • Unit 1: Fragments, simple and complete subjects and predicates, simple and compound sentences
  • Compound subjects & predicates
  • Unit 2 Nouns: collective, concrete, abstract, plurals, possessives, and contractions, appositives.
  • Unit 3 Verbs: Direct objects, indirect objects, linking verbs, predicate nouns & predicate adjectives, main verbs & helping verbs, tenses (not irregular verbs)
  • Unit 4 Pronouns: Personal, using pronouns correctly, possessive and indefinite, reflexive and indefinite, interrogative and demonstrative.
  • Unit 5: Demonstratives & Adverbs (only 5.34 & 5.35)
  • Unit 6: Prepositions and prepositional phrases, pronouns as objects of prepositions, conjunctions: coordinating and correlative.
  • Unit 7: Main Clause (Independent) & Subordinate Clause (Dependent), complex sentences, clauses (adjective, adverb, noun). Not essential and non-essential.
  • Unit 8: Participles, Gerunds, & Infinitives including all phrases.
  • Unit 11: Usage and Mechanics, Capitalization, Punctuation

    Reading Comprehension:

  • Students will be given reading selections and multiple choice questions to answer.

Vocabulary:

 Vocabulary is not included on the Final.  Vocabulary Units and assessments will continue in the classroom.

ELA/Literature

Final Exam Review Sheet 7th Grade

                The final exam will include grammar (the parts of speech), usage & mechanics, Vocabulary Unit 15, and reading comprehension.

Grammar:

  • Unit 2 Nouns – collective, concrete, abstract – possessives and contractions - appositives and appositive phrases.
  • Unit 3 Verbs – action verbs, verbs with direct and indirect objects, linking verbs and predicate words, main verbs and helping verbs. (Not irregular verbs)
  • Unit 4 Pronouns - All types of pronouns and using pronouns correctly (Not reflexive, intensive, interrogative.)
  • Unit 5 – Adjectives and adverbs - Demonstratives, adverbs, adjectives.P117 to 127.
  • Unit 6 - Prepositions and prepositional phrases, conjunctions, pronouns as objects of prepositions.
  • Unit 7 - Main Clause (Independent) & Subordinate Clause (Dependent), adjective, adverb, and noun clauses.
  • Unit 8 – Verbals – Participles and participial phrases, Gerunds and Gerund Phrases, Infinitives and Infinitive Phrases.

    Usage & Mechanics: (Pages 217 through 227, 235 through 245, 253 through 265.)

  • Punctuation, capitalization, usage

    Reading Comprehension:

  • Students will be given reading selections and multiple choice questions to answer.

 

Vocabulary Unit 15 plus 80 of 125 misspelled words from their wordlist.

ELA/Literature

Final Exam Review Sheet 6th Grade

          The final exam will include grammar (the parts of speech), usage & mechanics, Unit 15 in Vocabulary, and reading comprehension.  Students have highlighted areas of study in their Grammar Practice Book.

Grammar:

  • Unit 1: Subjects & predicates, Fragments, simple, compound, run-on sentences
  • Unit 3: Direct objects, indirect objects, linking verbs, predicate nouns & predicate adjectives, main verbs & helping verbs
  • Unit 4: All types of pronouns
  • Unit 7: Prepositions and prepositional phrases – pages 149 through 154, conjunctions.
  • Main Clause (Independent) & Subordinate Clause (Dependent), appositive – page 9 and page 10.

     

    Part 2: Usage & Mechanics:

  • Beginning on page 197 – highlighted material

     

    Reading Comprehension: (20 questions)

  • Students will be given reading selections and multiple choice questions to answer.

 

Vocabulary Unit 15: (20 questions)

 

The students will be tested on a different day on The Phantom Tollbooth.
