Week of December 2nd 2018

Hello Nursery School parents!

Its hard to believe that another month has flown by, and its already December!  The children have accomplished so much over the last 3 months, and I am excited to see whats to come!  We have many fun activities planned for December.  Christmas is a wonderful time to celebrate with this age group, and both Miss. Gengo and I are very excited to share it with this wonderful group of young children!

Please feel free to take a look at the Nursery calendar to see what fun and exciting events LBCRS has to offer for the month of December!

Academic Concepts

Shapes!

Shape activities can help early learners develop problem-solving skills.

Shape sorting toys are one example. When a child recognizes the characteristics of a square, they can match it with the square hole on the toy.

Shape recognition can also help when putting together puzzles

We will be categorizing different shapes, as well as building on math and literacy skills (shapes of letters) through various shape activities.

We will also be introducing the season of Advent to the children, specifying that Christmas is not only about receiving presents, but waiting for baby Jesus to be born.

Crafts
We will be creating different types of crafts that correlate with the books and activities we will be reading this week.  Some crafts will go home, while others will help us decorate our hallway and classroom!

Show and Tell
*Please always feel free to send your child in with anything they would like to share with the class!  This is a great way to promote both oral and social skills! If your child has a special talent they would like to show and share the class, they are more than welcome to!

Parents, thank you for all that you do in supporting our classroom.  In order to keep this a happy and healthy environment, I would ask that if you could please supply our room with more baby wipes and paper towels.
Thank you all again for all that you do in supporting LBCRS!

Thank you so much for all you do!

Have a great week!!
