LONG BEACH CATHOLIC REGIONAL SCHOOL
We at Long Beach Catholic Regional School consider education to be an ongoing enlightening process. Through a unified effort with parents who are the primary teachers, it is our aim to provide a safe and loving atmosphere where our students become individuals who value andlive their faith. Our commitment is to the spiritual, intellectual, physical and social growth of each child.
At Long Beach Catholic Regional School, we strive to create and enrich experiences so that students may be impowered to understand and make decisions in light of Christian values.
Long Beach Catholic Regional School was built in 1954 as a Regional School serving the barrier island of Long Beach. Our school encompasses the three parishes of St. Ignatius Martyr, St. Mary of the Isle and Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal in Point Lookout. The Sisters of St. Dominic were the original staff members of the school and served as administrators of Long Beach Catholic until 1998. They continue to play an important role in the life of the school today.
The school is supported through donations of the parishioners of the three parishes, through tuition paid by the parents of students attending the school and through several fundraisers. Our tuition is affordable and is paid in ten monthly installments from August to May.
At the present time, we have 21 full-time teachers on staft: as well as 5 part-time teachers. We also have a full-time Guidance Counselor and 13 teachers' aides. Our teachers are State Certified and follow the curriculum as mandated by New York State.
The enrollment of Long Beach Catholic School has been growing. Currently, we have close to 500 students attending our school from grades Pre-K through 8 with two sections for each grade. We have a "State of the Art" Computer/Library Media Center which accesses the Internet through a thin client connection and we are working toward having all classrooms with wireless connection.
Long Beach Catholic offers a wide variety of academic enrichment programs, as well as services to the parents and the community of Long Beach. We also have after school activities for our students' participation.
