Learning Goals: 

Math: We will continue Module 5. This week,  students will practice writing a 3 digit number 3 different ways.  Please be sure to  to practice addition facts with your child as this will make upcoming units a lot easier.
We will begin mad minutes this week to increase our addition fluency.

Reading/Spelling:
Weekly stories: "I Scream for Ice Cream"
Comprehension focus: visualizing
Skill: inferring
We will also be reading some winter stories.

Fundations: Unit 4. 
Suffixes: er (2 ) and est (3 or more). e will review s and es.
Trick words- again, please, animal
(PLEASE remember to add these to your trick word list at home. Children are expected to know these and apply these words in their writingt. Remember, these are words that can no be sounded out)

Spelling words: 
Children will using the January Choice board that can be found on Google classroom. Please  make sure your child is handing in neat homework and give them a gentle reminder that all words should be resting on the "grass line" no matter what activity they choose.


ELA: We are working very hard on applying what we have learned about capitalization and punctuation to our writing. Please reinforce this at home. This week, we will begin adjectives (describing words). Children will begin to use adjectives in their own sentences.

SS/Science:  We will begin our SS Unit-How We Learn about History. We will learn how objects and artifacts from history can tell a story.

Religion: We will learn how the bible is a book about God's word. Children will learn the difference between the Old and New Testament.
