I call my students "my kids" because in our year together they aren't just kids on my class list, they become a part of my heart!"
Welcome!
My name is Christina Volpe and this is my 23rd year teaching at LBCRS. I am very excited about teaching 2ndGrade this year and seeing so many familar faces. I actually started my career in 2nd Grade. I have also taught Kindergarten and 3rd grade. I teach Reading Title 1 to 2nd and 3rd graders and assist with Before Care and Homework Help.
I knew from the time I was 5 years old I wanted to be a teacher. I would sit and play school with my grandfather for hours on end. I never questioned or thought about any other career. I take this profession seriously, as I know how what an important job it is entrusting your child to me. I know I am teaching your whole world!!!!
I have an AS degree in Early Childhood from SUNY Farmingdale, a BA is Elementary Education and an MA in Literacy Education K-12 from Dowling College. My goal is to one day earn a special education degree. Autism Awareness has become a passion of mine.
In my spare time, I like to read, walk, travel and spend time with my family and friends. I have 2 daughters who are 9 and 13.
I am looking forward to a wonderful year.
