Hello Fourth Grade Families!
My name is Mrs. Kristen Williams. This year marks my fifteenth year at Long Beach Catholic Regional School, and my fifthyear teaching 4th Grade Math, Science, and Religion. This year I'll also be teaching Math and Science to our 5th Graders which I am excited about working with again.
Prior to joining the LBCRS family, I taught for 3 years in Oceanside Public School District, and from that experience I can honestly say there is no better place than a Catholic school!
I knew from a very young age that I wanted to be a teacher when I grew up. I so clearly remember standing in my first grade classroom erasing the chalkboard after being given permission to write that nights homework on the board (I had earned the penmanship award which was a HUGE deal). It took just once to hold the chalk in my very own hands and I was hooked! Each teacher I've had has helped to shape me into the educator I am today, but I also must attribute my skills to the college education I've received as well.
In what seems like ions ago, I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a Master of Arts degree in Childhood Education from Adelphi University. Five years ago I also completed the extension program for Special Education offered by Brooklyn University. Every day is a new learning opportunity if you simply keep your eyes and ears open!
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, baking/cooking, and going for long bike rides on the many trails offered across the island! I try to make time for these activities as often as I can because a healthy balance of work and play are important. I instill these values in my students as well and remind them often to take time out of each day to enjoy at least one of God's creations.
I look forward to a wonderful school year and please remember that my door is always open. I especially love visits from my former students and their families whenever the opportunity arises!
